In the summer of 2000, Pierre-Henry Fontaine decided to turn his impressive personal skeleton collection into a museum open to all. By his own admission, it was a way of continuing to teach after retirement, of continuing to instill the desire to learn and to pass on his passion for the natural world. The museum's popularity has continued to grow ever since, and has become more attractive with each passing year. Today, it is part of the Île-Verte tourist circuit, and is run by a guide trained by Pierre-Henry Fontaine and himself. The museum is a must for all visitors to this fantastic island.
