The Club de Golf de Coaticook, proudly located on the heights of the town, has been welcoming golf enthusiasts for 45 years. The club was founded in 1960, when a group of Coaticook residents applied for accreditation. This application led to the acquisition of a charter authorizing the opening of a golf course in 1962. The first ball was hit on June 24, 1962, on the 9-hole course on Merrill Street, just outside town. At the time, it cost just $1 to play nine holes. After 20 paid rounds, a player automatically obtained a summer membership. Back then, the Golf Club had a 9-hole course. In order to play an 18-hole course, the golfer had to play on a 3 x 6 principle: play three times six holes, which meant playing a regular round. The course was extended in 1991 to form the course we know today. With the addition of the 9 new holes, the club could afford to accommodate a larger number of players on a daily basis, and at more regular intervals: players would not pass over the same hole twic
